Press Release

Date: Sept. 13, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Following House passage of the "Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act" (H.R. 5587), Congressman Mike Bishop -- a member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee and co-sponsor of the bill -- issued the following statement:

"I applaud the House for coming together to pass our committee's legislation to help more Americans build successful careers in today's workforce. In Michigan, we can continue our economic comeback by making sure students are prepared to fill the thousands of in-demand jobs available in our state. Not everyone needs to attend a four-year college or university, but they do need the right knowledge and skills to compete and find work. The House passage of this bill moves us one step closer to that goal."

The "Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act" is a key component of House Republican's Better Way agenda. For more information on how it will help more Americans find work, visit the House Education and the Workforce Committee website.
